ARTIST Statement
As an introverted person I have always found art as a refuge, a sacred space where my most intimate self thrives. My journey as an immigrant in the US and the support of my therapeutic work has profoundly influenced my creative expression, weaving together threads of cultural dissonance, identity discovery and personal growth.
Through abstract art, I capture and process the ephemeral and paradoxical worlds of experiences, thoughts and emotions. Inspired by M.C. Escher’s paradoxical realm and my interest in the principles of Gestalt psychology I attempt to explore, in a playful way with shapes, colors and changing points of view.
I propose to escape the confinement suggested by a typical squar e frame by using a circular canvas to reject the idea of binarism and therefore the piece having an assigned orientation. Each piece can fully rotate 360 degrees which gives the audience the ability to change their own perspective and what they see, and also invite the spectator to take an active position and use their imagination to interact with abstract art.
Ultimately, my artistic practice is a cathartic pursuit of understanding the human condition, where psychology, perspectives, and design intersect. I strive to create experiential works that inspire, provoke, and disrupt, fostering a deeper connection with our complex, multifaceted selves.
